Halloween Ideas From Hart Flooring in Logan UT

Halloween Spirit

It’s that spooky time of the year again where all the ghost and goblins come out to play. Today we want to show you a decorating idea that will be fun and it won’t break the bank, they’re called yarn pumpkins! All you need is yarn (orange), balloons (color doesn’t matter), glue, and some pipe cleaners (brown and green). The first step to creating these adorable little pumpkins is cutting 21 pieces of the yarn into 36 inch lengths. Then you’re going to blow a balloon up about half way, or close to 12 inches.

Next, you’re going to want to tie the balloon and make sure that it also has some yarn tied to the top of it so you can hang it while attaching the yarn to it. After the balloon is tied up you’re going to want to start dipping the yarn into the bowl of glue. You can use a plastic fork to swirl it around. Make sure the yarn is completely covered with glue. You can use the fork to then get some of the excess glue off. However, make sure there is enough glue still on the yarn that it can still hold its shape when dried. Then you’re going to stick the piece of yarn covered in glue to the balloon and wrap it around. You will continue doing this for all 21 pieces.

It will take a full 24 hours for your pumpkins to dry and the next part is crucial. Make sure to press your fingers under the yarn to help the balloon detach from the glued pieces of yarn. It can be a pain but if you fail to do this, the balloon can pull the yarn to the inside when you deflate the balloon. Making your pumpkin be very odd shaped. Once that is completed make a tiny incision at the top of the balloon where you tied your knot. This will cause the balloon to deflate and you’ll be able to remove the balloon from the pumpkin. You can make a stem and vines for your pumpkin with the pipe cleaners. You can wrap the pipe cleaners around your pumpkin, or glue it, whichever you prefer.
