How to Care for Hardwood

Hardwood floor is easy to maintain and this is one of the main reasons it is a favorite to many people. The regular maintenance that is required includes sweeping with a soft bristle broom or with a microfiber mop. If the hardwood floor has beveled edges a vacuum can be used just make sure the beater bar is turned off. Make sure to clean your floors periodically with a professional wood for cleaner recommended by professionals. Your friends at Hart Floor Co. can help with this and any other questions you may have.

Make sure you do not use vinyl or tile cleaner on your hardwood surface. Be aware that self-polishing acrylic wax can cause wood to become slippery and become dull quickly. If you and your guests remove your shoes at the door this can help prevent debris being tracked in as well as your hardwood floor getting scratched.
People think that since it is a wood floor that spills can sit for a longer period of time. However, you should wipe up spills immediately. Also, do not wet-mop or steam mop a wood floor. This can dull the finishes and even damage the wood. Your friends at Hart Floor Co. would love to show you the correct cleaning tools to use on your hardwood floor.

When it comes to waxing your hardwood, floor do not over wax it, if build up does happen try buffing it out. Try to avoid wax build up under furniture or other areas that do not deal with a lot of traffic. This can be done by applying wax every other wax session. Scratching and scuffing does happen as time goes on but to try and avoid it you can apply stick on felt protectors. This helps prevent the floor from becoming damaged due to furniture. Make sure the pads do get replaced every so often though. Particles can get embedded in them causing them to act like a sand paper.
